Cloudpap cloud backup performs it’s backup in the following sequence
Pre/post commands are executed before and after the whole backup process.
Pre-commands
This event occurs before the backup procedure was initialized. For example, you may want to run some commands to remove some temporally (TMP) files from the disk before starting backup or configure a third-party antivirus product to be started each time before the backup starts
TMP file are temporary files that are created to temporarily hold data on your computer while you are using a specific software application.
Post-commands
This event occurs when the backup procedure has finished.
You may specify commands or batch files to be automatically executed after the backup procedure
A batch file is a kind of script file in DOS, OS/2 and Microsoft Windows. It consist of a series of commands to be executed by the command-line interpreter.
Before and after data capture commands are executed right before and immediately after the snapshot.
Before data capture commands
This event occurs right after the backup procedure is initialized, before taking the snapshot of the data on the HDD.
Here you can use the commands for suspending some Windows services. You can stop the running databases’ services which do not support VSS
After data capture commands.
This event occurs right after the snapshot is taken.
Here you may use the commands for running Windows services which you stopped earlier. You can resume the databases after data capture here.
Pre/post commands and before/after data capture commands are optional.
Recovering a machine from the web console
The entire machine can be recovered to a physical machine or a virtual machine.
A physical machine is the machine where the backup agent is installed.
A VM can be created on any managed hypervisor/ virtual machine monitor (VMM) a computer software or hardware that is used to create and run virtual machines.
In case a backup is recovered on a different physical machine with hardware that is not similar to that where backup was done, during recovery, the Cloudpap Agent Universal Restore fixes bootability using drivers found in the system folders.
If the drivers for new hardware are not found and machine fails to start, boot it with the Cloudpap Bootable Media and apply Universal Restore with necessary drivers.
If the system disk is recovered, the agent automatically reboots to the Bootable media and continues with the recovery process. Once the recovery process is finished, the machine is rebooted and goes back online
